15 days

You know what drives me nuts? When I am driving, I think of a ton of stuff to blog about, however, when I get in front of the laptop, I hit a blank. I can’t make notes while driving, but maybe I should start recording my blog posts and just re-type them when I get home? Maybe I could become one of those people who speak to themselves in the car?

ANYWAYS, moving on….

While going through my archives, I found this from 2011. My readers who have been faithful followers since the beginning would maybe remember it… It was one of the challenges from Harmony.

Well, since I did the 2011 one, I went through the posts and my answers and one thing is for sure… I certainly have changed and grown in my views of life, which is a part of life after all. 😉 So, I have been thinking of doing the 10 day thingie again, but this time, I decided to add a few things and take some things away.

So, here it is…

I will do a post on every weekday and well… there is no reason not to do it, except that it is fun. Especially when you look back at your answers in a few years time. Personally, I think it is amazing what you think is important to you in a specific period of your life. 🙂

I am not challenging anyone else to do it. If you want to, then great, but this is just something for me.

Anyways, happy Wacky Wednesday everyone!

Oh dear… what have we here?

Hello dear blogland…

Firstly… to all my American readers Happy belated Independence Day. 🙂

Secondly… I do apologise for my absence, but there has been a lot happening in life and to top it all off… I have been sick… it all started last Wednesday, 25 June… I started off with a sore throat, which became a terrible dry cough. I cannot take a sick day from the office, because we are short staffed, but I stayed in my office and made sure not to get into contact with anyone and by last Friday night, I doctored myself with some effervescent tablets, cough mixture and sinus tablets, not that I had a sinus drip, but I was throwing caution to the wind. By Saturday I actually started feeling better.

We (my Mom and I) babysat the girls and they were supposed to sleep over… but by Saturday afternoon, my Mom got ill. So, I had to call my brother to come pick up the girls. He did pick them up, at about 19:30 that evening. Which meant that I had to bath and feed them. Who knew that I could actually do all that on my own?

That night however… Cutie Pie got sick…

See, she ate more than her allotted three fish fingers. She ate the three plus the four I had in my plate. So, Biker Man and Wifey went through two vomiting sessions that night. I think it ended up being a bit like your episode with the Strawberry Lips Harmz, except with fish. Cutie Pie apparently vomited all over my brother and after that episode, my brother and Wifey did not even have a clean beach towel in the house.

That was not the worst apparently… the worst was the smell (I bet their cat went crazy) and at 07:00 they were up trying to do a bundle of washing when… the electricity went off. Turns out that the lights would be out for three days because vandals vandalised the power station…. *sigh* The whole area’s electricity was affected.

That’s when they decided to call me awake to tell me that if I ever give Cutie Pie fish fingers again. *rolls eyes*

Anyways, my Mom couldn’t get out of bed… which was odd, because that is not how I know her. On Monday, I took her to the Doctor, who gave her an antibiotic and booked her off till Thursday. It was after the Doctor’s appointment that I started feeling bad again. However, I went to work, got home, made dinner, but by 20:00 every night I was gone… fast asleep till 06:15 the next morning.

I am still ill, but my dry cough has changed into a wet cough. My Mom is still ill too. We even had a bowl of soup for lunch… which is what sick people eat apparently.

Oh, and btw, the lights came on eventually and my brother and his family are all okay. Not too traumatised after that fishy session. They came over to bath by us on Sunday and Monday, but on Tuesday, their friends said they could visit them for dinner and bath time. Biker Man says the lights came on at 21:10 on Tuesday evening.

I trust I will feel more like myself in the days to come… and that I will be posting soon again. 😉

Being Sick

My Irish birthday party… (a quick summary)

I am so tired… I have obviously learned that a 30-year-old body doesn’t quite recover as quickly as a 29-year old body… Hahaha see I made a joke about my new age. 😉

This weekend just flew by, but they say time flies when you are having fun and it sure did. On Friday, my Mom and I took a day’s leave to start on preparations for my party. On Saturday we did the final touches for the party and at 14:00 some of my friends started arriving for the party. I only got home at about 01:30 the next morning.

Some highlights for the party include:

  • Having my blog friends, Harmony and Asian, at my party. Thanks so much for being there you two. It was awesome having you both there and my family only have really nice things to say about you guys. 🙂
  • My brothers invited their some of their biker friends. The friends made me an honorary member for the day and I was told that I “officially” have another two brothers who will look after me (I’d better add them to my who’s who list).
  • It was awesome socialising with my colleagues out of the office.
  • My Mom, the star who looked after everyone and made them feel welcome.
  • The gifts I received. See the photo below.
  • The cupcakes. We iced them in the colours of the Irish flag and I made clovers to put on them. See the photo below.

One thing I will NEVER do again is order balloons. I must admit now, that I am scared of balloons… I was small when one popped in my face and to this day, I get terrified when they burst. So it was total insanity on my part to order 10 helium balloons from our local Spar and to drive with said balloons to the venue. NEVER AGAIN. I was literally on edge while I was driving because the bloody balloons would not stay in the back of the car.

Anyways, I am sure everyone had a good time with enough to eat. I am going to load the pics on Facebook soon.

As for yesterday, we had to go back to the venue to get the rest of the stuff we left there. By last night I was totally beat and ended up in bed at 21:00. Which is early for me. Thank goodness I already watched the MNet Sunday night movie, so I didn’t miss anything.

We have a big week ahead here at work, so I’ll try to blog when I get the chance to share other experiences with you.

Enjoy your week and take care.

Today is Harmony’s birthday.

This is the day she enters the naughty forties.

I decided to break from tradition of posting Enrique photos and I made you a gift.

So, my dear Harmony, put on your tiara, blow out your candles and have a fantastic day!

My wish for you is that, in this new era of your life, you have tons of happiness, love and joy.

I know things haven’t been easy, but I like thinking that life is like being a Phoenix, no matter what the universe throws your way, you always rise up out of the ashes.

This is your time to shine. 🙂

Happy Birthday!

Today is…

The start of our birthday season. Yes, my closest family members start celebrating today.

My brother, Biker Man is 44-years-old today. Yes, that is correct. I cannot believe it myself. My Mom was in tears this morning about it. But, before I go any further, I’d like to say Happy birthday to you Biker Man. I hope there will be many, many more and that your day is special. (Not that he will ever read this blog, hahaha!)

Most of my family members have birthdays August, September, October and November. The exception, of course, is my Mom and Ms Cutie Pie. They are in January and March respectively. There are some special birthdays in our family this year.  My nephew, the Blonde one, will be 21. Noodle will be one and I will be the big 30.  I already have the Blonde One’s gift and Noodles too. My brother will get his on Saturday. Hopefully. I woke up a little late about it. Will show you guys what is is when I am done with it.

Oh and before I forget, it is my friend Harmony’s birthday too! She will just have to wait for her special day to see her pressie. 😉

Anyways, I just thought I’d share. I have other news, however, that will just have to wait for another post. 🙂

The good news – Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart in South Africa

Recently I blogged about Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart coming to South Africa to promote their new movie, Olympus has fallen .

Olympus has fallen

This movie was released on Friday 12 April 2013 at all Nu Metro and Ster-Kinekor movie theatres in South Africa.

I entered the competition, that I referred to in my previous post,  many times to meet them, but alas, I did not win. It was okay though, the prize ended up being for one person, and no offence, but who wants to meet those to gorgeous men alone???

Obviously there were other plans in store for me.

After the announcement of the two main winners on Monday afternoon, Martin Bester the DJ of the station said that seven people could win double tickets to the premier and attend the questions and answers session with the stars after the movie. To win the tickets all you needed to do was SMS the name of the movie and your name to them.

Now, this is where I thank the good Lord that I have a Blackberry, where you can copy, paste and send a message in a matter of seconds.

I wrote the message, copied it and pasted it over and over and over again. You can only imagine how many times I sent that message. I swear my nerves, my adrenaline and excitement all mixed into one was an awesome feeling. Who needs booze and recreational drugs when you can get a high from possibly seeing Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart.

I sent off 20 messages over a period of two minutes and all I could do was hope for the best.

At 18:30 I received a call from Mike, the producer of the show, who said that I was one of the lucky people to win. Now, this is the embarrassing part, but I screamed with a high pitched voice, just like a teeny bopper who gets to see Justin Bieber for the first time! (So much for my cool and intense Scorpio demeanor. *sigh*)

Anyways, while the producer was speaking to me I did a happy dance. He told me that he would call the next day with further details, but all that I had to do was be at the Il Grande movie theatre at Monte Casino at 18:30 to collect my tickets. I must admit, that it sounded a lot like the premier I went to there forBreaking Dawn Part 2. Thanks again for those tickets Harmony !

So, I was going to the premier and best of all… I could take a partner… and who better to take than my equally GB obsessed mom.

It was official. No matter what… We would both get to see Gerard Butler!

Yes, we would have gone to see the radio interview in the fishbowl studio that afternoon, and we took the day off to do that…

BUT now we were going to the premier as well!

How awesome could this get?

Eye candy from the RWC

On Saturday morning, I was watching New Zealand play Rugby. Now let me first start by saying I don’t like them one bit. However, one player has caught my eye, and no, it isn’t DAN CARTER! *gag* The player who caught my eye was Sonny Williams…  who was born in 1985… He is a rugby player and a heavy weight boxer, so he might not be the brighest, but he is nice to look at. (How shallow does that sound?)

Anyways, my friend Harmony, wanted to know what he looked like and I said I would post some pics today…
