Tuesday Tune: True Love

Last week for the Tuesday Tune, I chose a song called True Love. In the comments below the post, Colonialist said that when he saw the name of the song he immediately thought of the Grace Kelly version… well, after his comment, I went and did some research. It turns out that Grace Kelly sang the song with one of my Oupa L’s favourite crooners, namely Bing Crosby.

I downloaded the song and I have heard it before. It was on one of the many vinyls my Mom had when I was growing up. I of course took it home that night and played it for my Mom. I didn’t expect her to start crying, when she heard it. But she did. Turns out hearing Bing Crosby sing reminds her of my oupa who passed away 34 years ago. She said that they used to argue over who was the better singer, Bing Crosby (who my Oupa liked) or Elvis Presley (who she loved). Somehow I can just imagine the two debating the topic. 🙂

Anyways, I have decided that this is a very romantic song… and you don’t get songs like this anymore, not with such romantic lyrics… So, over the next couple of weeks, I’ll post Tuesday Tunes that I have discovered and yes, they’ll be from years gone by. 🙂

True Love
Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby

Suntanned, windblown
Honeymooners at last alone
Feeling far above par
Oh, how lucky we are

While I give to you and you give to me
True love, true love
So on and on, it will always be
True love, true love

For you and I have a guardian angel
On high, with nothing to do
But to give to you and to give to me
Love forever true

For you and I have a guardian angel
On high, with nothin’ to do
But to give to you and to give to me
Love forever true
Love forever true
